The synthesis of Recombinant T. canis TES-26 protein began with the isolation of TES-26 gene from the native genome. The next step was to amplify the TES-26 gene by inserting the TES-26 gene into an expression vector and then introducing the vector into the selected host cell, Yeast. Significant amounts of recombinant T. canis TES-26 protein were produced by the host only when expression genes were added. For the purpose of protein purification, the vector contains N-terminal 6xHis tag to the TES-26 DNA sequence. The purity of this protein is 90%+ determined by SDS-PAGE.
TES-26 is a gene encoding a protein named 26 kDa secreted antigen in Toxocara canis. The protein encoded by this gene is also known as toxocara excretory-secretory antigen 26 (TES-26). This gene is characterized as a 1,082-base pair clone. The protein encoded by this gene is secreted with 20-residue N-terminal signal peptide. Its main function is lipid binding.
